Nicole's Sundress

Nicole was having a fit because I didn't show you "HER" sundress....she looks so cute and summery!!!  It has been really hot here and the girls have been getting much use out of their sundresses...but it is turning cool for this next week, with rain....which we desperately need...so that is good, will need to get out some hoodies and sweaters!!!

Off and Running.....

Lissy loved to run...but her long gowns and petticoats, were such a bother.  Oh, if she could wear breeches.....but then it was 1774 and that was not acceptable.  When she started slipping out in the early mornings to train Penny....she borrowed a pair of Ben's breeches out of the mending basket.  When he found out he kept her secret.  Here she is getting ready to run off!!!!

Shocked Look

Yes, Ally was certainly shocked in yesterday's post....this is the e-mail that Maddy had just read, and the info that she gave to her.....

Dear American Girl fan,

We're writing with important news about one of our most treasured American Girl dolls—Molly McIntire®. As one of our e-mail subscribers, you're among the first to know that soon, Molly's complete collection, including her best friend from England, Emily Bennett™, will be moving into the American Girl Archives™.

Countless American Girl fans have found a friend in this lively, patriotic girl since her introduction in 1986. Bringing Molly's world to life—from helping her family during World War Two to welcoming Emily into her home—has been a journey we've enjoyed sharing with you.

Watch for more information via our catalogues and at americangirl.com. In the meantime, don't miss the opportunity to purchase items from Molly's collection before it's too late. Thank you for your continued support.

Sincerely,
American Girl

I had a feeling that Molly would be the next one to go...but am still very sad.  Fortunaly, I just got her....so need to get going making clothes for her....After my Birthday that is (since technically Steven hasn't given her to me yet!!!)....I did get her cleaned up ...and after spending the day airing in the sun...she was still very musty smelling...so she spent the day in a plastic bag with kitty litter.(AKA-kitty litter spa treatment)  She is still a little musty...but MUCH better!!!  Hoping our dry Colorado air will clean her up, that is if we don't get more smoke!!!!

So...please welcome Miss Molly McIntire....our World II Doll.  Can't wait to get started on her outfits....next,  a question.... Do you think AG will create another Historical Doll? (I sure hope so!!!) and what period of history would you like to see?  I have 2 that I hope they do next.  1st, a 1950's girl.  So much fun with poodle skirts, and sock hops!!!!  If not that then a set of dolls like Cecile and Marie-Grace...but 1620 ish dolls that are a Pilgrim girl and an Indian girl.....such fun!!  Leave a comment below with your wish list!!!

Let me tell you a secret....

Alyssa and Maddy are sharing secrets....shhh....don't tell....!!!!  I just got a couple of orders on my Etsy Shop, so I thought I'd post a few "non-historical" outfits....while I get these made up.  Alyssa is wearing another cute sundress...I made this one for my granddaughters for Easter.  I love this print fabric.

Ally looks a little shocked by whatever Maddy told her!!!  Leave me a Comment on what you think she's saying.

Mirror Image Sundress

I'm working on an outfit for Lissy....but decided last night that I needed to add a top to the outfit....as it wasn't complete, even though it used the shift top to the undergarments.  Everyone may not have the Undergarments set.  This will the first....totally handmade outfit...so I'm very excited about it!!!

So you get another Non-historical...the mirror image to the dress I showed yesterday....It came out so cute...reminds me of sherbert ice cream,.  Yum!!!  Madison looks very cool and comfortable.  Love the sandals

Samantha's All Set for School!!!

Back in the early 1900's, many girls went to private all girl schools, as boys went to all boy academy's...Samantha went to Miss Crampton's Academy.  Here is one type dress she would have worn.  It is called a Buster Brown....and has a Peter Pan collar, and lots of pleats....not an easy thing to sew up....but they looked so smart!  It is a gray wool flannel with smart white buttons and white top stitching.
Check out more outfits for Samantha on my Etsy Shop
www.etsy.com/shop/prairiewindgirls
I heard a rumor today that Molly will be retired by the end of the year....I am still researching that tid-bit of information, will let you know.  If so, then I am super glad I just got her on Ebay.  She was in really good shape, but coming from Florida....is very musty smelling....so she has spent a spa day in the sun...that helped...but she will have to undergo the Kitty litter treatment.  She is a birthday present from Steven....and it isn't till August....so I will show her to you later!!!!  Now I'm looking for Miss Addy!  Our family grows!!!!

Another Non-Historical Pic

Olivia loves her newest outfit...embroidered jeans, a pink jersey and fun poncho....She's gonna take a walk at the park to see how bad the fire got over in that area.

Fun Playthings....

Ever since coming home from being evacuated...my mind just can't seem to concentrate...so my next sewing project is a complicated one, so thought I would postpone it a but....this is what I've been working on....

It's Kirsten's School Accessories....I molded the food out of Sculpy clay....was having problems baking it, I think because it is so thick....first batch burnt....So I think all the girls will get school accessory sets.  You can check them out on my Etsy Shop  www.etsy.com/shop/prairiewindgirls

Life Goes On....

Things are starting to feel more normal here.....I think the trauma of being uprooted is passing.  Got good news last night...our neighbors dog was finally found....so a story with a happy ending!!!

I did get some sewing done....and so Lissie has a new night shift, lappet cap and mules.....What are those you ask.  Sleepwear for girls and women were called night shifts....they were a fancier version of their shift.  Lissie's  has lace and ribbon.  Girls wore hats ALL the time in Colonial America....even to sleep...and here is Lissie's matching Lappet Cap.  It has long ears that wrap around her head and tie under her chin.  And on her feet she wears leather mules....or slip on slippers.  I hand made these, and they were easier then I thought  they would be...so will be trying my hand at more shoes.
All the girls have Meet outfits, and undergarments and sleepwear now!!!!  And I have really good news.  I won another Ebay auction while we were evacuated....didn't have much to spend my time on....so.....Molly McIntire will be joining our family...I can't wait till she gets here!!!!  Actually she will be a birthday present from my hubby......he doesn't know yet!!!!  Shh....don't tell him!!!!

Got to get Abby redressed!!!

Thanks everyone for your patience....as you know we were evacuated due to the forest fires in our area...we are back home, but everything is ready to go if we need to leave again.  Hate living this way....but life does go on...so trying to keep it as normal as possible.  So you may be getting some stock pictures for a while...not sure which bag I stowed my camera in!!!!

I do need to get Abby dressed in some summer clothes...I get hot just looking at her......But I love, love, love this outfit...it is so Colorado!!!!  And the boots are to die for.

Fires Everywhere.....

Our beloved state of Colorado is on fire....and one is way too close for comfort...so if I don't post for a while, it's because we had to pack up and leave....Say a little prayer for us and everyone here.

Maria's Blue School Dress

Busy still working on the Slippers to Samantha's Robe set, so here is a non-historical outfit I did for Maria.....crisp blue cotton, makes a very comfortable school dress, with a bow, and buttons down the front.
Check out this and more on my Etsy Shop
www.etsy.com/shop/prairiewindgirls
Well, off to sew some more.  I'm finishing up the slippers to Samantha's Robe set, and then some tops to some skirts I made for Granddaughter dolls.  Had lunch at church, so will just have soup for dinner....easy, peasy!!!!

Last of the Granddaughter Dolls

This little girl, I also found in a catalog, and couldn't resist....but alas, they would make good baby sisters for the AG's.  Facial features are really cute but toddlerish.  Made the red romper for my Ladystamp Etsy shop....am moving it over to my Praire Wind Etsy Shop....so check it out!
More cute outfits on my Etsy Shop

Went out to dinner with friends last night so didn't get much sewing done.  Have started designing a robe for Samantha, since I couldn't find one like AG sells.  Did get a little knitting on socks done, and think I have the pattern figured out...first one came out pretty good!!!  Will post a picture after I get the second one made!!!

Kirsten's School Outfit

Well, I ended up having people calling last minute and cancelling on the class last night...and since this class builds on the last class, I didn't want those that missed to get too far behind...so we cancelled for this month!!!  It's summer and so hard to get everyone together....but the good thing is that I got to work on Kirsten's School outfit....and was able to finish it up...and it came out so cute!!!
Check it out on my Etsy Shop
www.etsy.com/shop/prairiewindgirls
She's all ready to go to school.  Children on the prairie didn't go to school like we do now.  Fall was harvest time and all hands were needed to get the chores done and crops in.  After the crops were in, in November, children went back to school....and the days were crisp...so Kirsten was thankful for her warm shawl.  Then come Spring it was time to plant and all hands were needed again....so they only went to school in the Winter and Summer.

Alyssa- Another Granddaughters Doll

I found this doll in a catalog...and ordered her...don't know the brand....I fell in love with the face...although she looks younger than the regular AG dolls.  We named her Alyssa....and she even came with the outfit!!!

I've started making Kirsten's School Dress, but have a class to teach tonight....so won't get it finished today!!!  She looks very good in Red!!!!!

Felicity's Meet Accessories

Lissie needed to have her Meet Outfit finished out....so I finally got all of her Meet Accessories finished...
Check out more pictures on my Etsy Shop
www.etsy.com/shop/praiariewindgirls
When she walks into town to go to Father's store...she has all the things a proper girl should have.  Her Satin and Brocade purse.  Holds her lace trimmed hankie.  Girls and women usually placed lavender in their hankies....garbage was usually left on the streets...and the lavender masked the smells.  Her stitched garters held her stockings up and stopped them from drooping....something Lissie's were always doing!!!!

Samantha's Nightie....

I caught Samantha looking longingly at Kirsten's pretty nightgown, after I got it made....so I knew I had to hurry and get one made for her.  This matches the lace and ribbon on her Lacy Whites....and looks stunning against her dark hair!!!  I love it when their hair is down....so pretty!

Meet Madison....

One more non-historical....or Granddaughter Doll....last of our Springfield collection dolls....Madison.  I love her hair....she's a keeper!!!!!  I bought this outfit because it had a matching girl nightie, so one of the Em's will get that this winter!  Love the bunny slippers too, sorry they got cut off!  And I did make the bear...I love bears, almost as much as dolls!!!

Off to my sewing machine...I'm making Miss Sammy (Samantha) a nightie....it's gonna match her Lacy Whites!!!!
